Make Video Memories Last a Lifetime

Using a DVD duplicator allows you to easily transfer your video files from your phone, camera, or camcorder right onto a DVDs. Hours and hours worth of video footage can be stored onto a single blank DVD, making this medium a cost effective storage solution. Yet it's important to remember that not all blank DVDs are the same. Which of their formats will work best for you depends upon the how you plan on using the disc and the types and sizes of media files you wish to store on it. Don't allow yourself to be fooled into thinking that one format fits all. Do that, and you may end spending additional funds on a more advanced recordable format when a standard, more cost-effective product could easily meet your needs. That said, you also want to be sure that the product you purchase is capable of all of the executing appropriate functions.

Our Different DVD Format Options

With all of these different formatting options, it's easy to become confused. Not to worry; here are some general descriptions of what each format offers:

  • DVD-R/DVD+R: These formats are very similar to each in that they each record data once. When that data is saved, it becomes permanent to the disc, which can then not be recorded onto a second time. The only difference between the two is that DVD-R is more compatible with videos and DVD+R is for computer.
  • DVD+RW: DVD+RW differs from the standard+R formats in that it allows for re-recording. Thus, you can erase data from it and record on it again without worrying about damaging the disc.
  • DVD+R DL: The "DL" listed here stands for "Dual Layer." Where standard DVDs feature a single recordable dye layer that can typically record up to 4.7 GB, a dual layer disc doubles that capacity to 8.7 GB by incorporating a second dye layer into its design.
